Forensics is a co-curricular activity which encourages students to use their performing skills through drama and public speaking. The goal of the Ranney School Forensics program is to allow students to explore the basics of drama and public speaking. Drama and forensics begins in fourth and fifth grade with membership in the Lower School Forensics activity. By the time students reach Middle School, they have already been primed for the additional vocal training and instruction in public speaking skills they will receive from our award-winning Forensics coaches.

The poise and presentation skills they learn through Forensics competition become invaluable as they take on more challenging competition in Upper School. In Upper School, students participate as members of the New Jersey Drama and Forensics League, a state-wide competitive league sponsored by high school theater directors.

Since its inception in 1994, the Ranney Middle School Forensics Team has garnered 338 awards at various forensic competitions and venues throughout New Jersey. While this number of awards is unprecedented for any Middle School team, even more remarkable is that 116 of these award winners took first place in their category.
