Vaiani and Mangano Title Again at NJSIAA Individual Fencing Championship

Senior Nicole Vaiani won her second title in women's foil while freshman Ariana Mangano brought home bronze in women's epee.
On February 27, Ranney fencers Nicole Vaiani ’16 and Ariana Mangano ’19 continued their winning streak at the 2016 NJSIAA State Individual Championships, held at Livingston High School. Nicole won her second title in Women’s Foil – she earned gold in 2014 but was unable to defend her title in 2015 due to a national event that had conflicting dates. Nicole, who is heading to the University of Pennsylvania to fence next year, earned 1st at the mid-February Prep State Champs.

Also coming off a 1st place at the Prep State Champs, Ariana earned the bronze medal in Women's Epee at Saturday’s NJSIAA State Individual tournament. As a freshman, Ariana has a bright fencing career ahead of her.

Both fencers are pictured with Ranney’s Head Fencing Coach Mohammed Shafaie.
