Rowan Johnson '23 and Jason Woska '24 Accepted into CJMEA Regional String Orchestra
Rowan Johnson (Class of 2023) and Jason Woska (Class of 2024) were accepted into Central Jersey Music Educators Association Regional String Orchestra!
Rowan and Jason auditioned on cello and string bass, respectively, on Saturday, January 26 at the Community Middle School. They had to prepare solo pieces (Tarantella by Squire for cello and Two Classical Pieces by Reinangle for string bass) as well as 9 major scales, and were tested on their sight reading skills. As always, the competition was very fierce - 11 bassists tried out and 54 cellists to be placed in two orchestras - Chamber Orchestra and String Orchestra. Rowan made 10th chair in cello section and Jason 2nd in bass section, both in String Orchestra.
"This is a very notable accomplishment for Rowan and Jason and only their first time auditioning," said Performing Arts Department Chair Dr. Dorothy Sobieski. "I am very proud of their hard work and excited they will have a chance to work and perform under Mr. Christopher Jones, who will be conducting the CJMEA String Orchestra this year. We are all so proud of them!"
