Jr. Tri-M Members Shop for Toys for Lunch Break
Twenty Jr. Tri-M members met from 9:00 - 10:30 AM this past Sunday, Dec. 8. at Target in Ocean to shop for Lunch Break, a charitable organization serving families throughout Monmouth County.
Using money collected from the Jr. Tri-M Bake Sales and this year's Middle School Penny War, the students had $2,300 to spend on toys, baby items, sports equipment, gift cards, and more. They shopped in teams, equipped with shopping carts and Santa hats, happy in the knowledge that their efforts would benefit the Lunch Break program and bring a smile to many this holiday season. There were over 175 different items that will be delivered on December 11, to the Lunch Break drop off location.
“This was a great way for our Jr. Tri-M students to service their community,” said Performing Arts Faculty and Jr. Tri-M Advisor Mrs. Lillianne Torrente. “Throughout the event, the students acted with grace and humility and the Target employees commented on their focus and behavior. The following students represented themselves, our Jr. Tri-M chapter, and the school with true Panther Pride. I couldn't be more proud. These students once again proved that our Performing Arts Middle School students are not just talented, but charitable and generous as well!”
