Congratulations to the US Speech and Debate Team
Fourteen students competed this weekend at the Ridge Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament, our third tournament of the year. With over 60 schools from four states competing, Ranney had one of its best showings yet.
Lydia Lin ('22) earned second in her third round room delivering her "Original Oratory" on the discrimination of menstruating women in Southeast Asian countries.
Our Public Forum Debate Teams also improved their results dramatically. Debating on the topic of whether the U.S. should lift economic sanctions in Venezuela, five of our six teams won at least one of their four rounds. Tucker Scott ('22) and Rowan Johnson ('23) took the win in three out of four rounds in the Public Forum JV Division.
Congratulations to all our competitors. Ranney will compete in two more tournaments at the end of February.
