For the past five cycles, Kindergartener students have been taking a trip around the library and filling out library passports with Lower School Librarian Mr. Mike Steele.
The students have learned the word “genre” and that books in the library are shelved by genre. They have discovered that they can use library signs and genre spine labels on the sides of books to help find stories that might interest them.
Each week, they’ve had the chance to hear read-alouds from two new genre sections. At the end of each read-aloud, they’ve received corresponding genre spine labels to place in their library passports.
