Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Ranney Fund? Why doesn’t tuition cover the total cost of each student?

Ranney’s annual operating budget envisions groundbreaking new programs, professional development opportunities for faculty, improvements to campus and the opportunity to offer need-based financial aid. Like most independent schools, Ranney relies on charitable donations and other income to make this extraordinary investment in our students possible. Rather than raising tuition, the Ranney Fund offers our community a tax-deductible opportunity to invest in transformative programs at a level appropriate for each family. Our goal is 100% participation!

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

Yes! Ranney School is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit institution. Every gift is tax-deductible to the extent permissible under IRS regulations. The school's Tax ID number is 22-1853774.

Who is asked to donate?

Everyone in the Ranney community is asked to give — trustees, parents, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, senior students, as well as faculty and staff.  Last year, Ranney received gifts from 100% of the Board of Trustees and 94% of faculty and staff.

How can I make my tax-deductible gift to the Ranney Fund?

Can I designate my Ranney Fund gift to a specific program or need?

Yes, you can designate your gift to a specific program. The four main programs supported by the Ranney Fund include: groundbreaking programs, need-based financial aid, professional development and enhancements to campus. You may restrict your gift to support any of these four areas.
