Head of School Letter on Strategic Planning Process (Sept. 19, 2014)
Dear Members of the Ranney Community,
Thank you for your recent participation in the strategic planning focus groups held here at Ranney School. We received wide representation from all stakeholders, including current and past parents, student leaders, faculty, staff and administration, alumni, and our Board of Trustees.
Our consultant Skip Kotkins was impressed with Ranney School's strengths and opportunities, the level of interest in participation, and the candor of the responses and showing of obvious pride. At the same time, he has heard invaluable information on what we can improve, and that is the guiding principle of any strategic planning process. Participants communicated useful feedback and overall expectations about hopes for the future of the school and most importantly, the children that we serve.
Skip also met with members of the strategic planning steering committee to offer general feedback and start to tease out the common threads and trends he discovered throughout Ranney School. He will await data from a new school experience survey which will be distributed next week to the entire school community. Comparing anecdotes with data (including testing and other measures) will be an important step for us as we begin the process of building strategic goals. Once the steering committee meets and works with Skip to analyze the survey results, we will report this feedback to the community, along with the goals we will begin to prioritize.
In the meantime, Skip expressed his sincere appreciation that he could be a part of this process at Ranney School and thanked the school for its warm welcome. He noted the level of investment, involvement and commitment of our community, and our willingness to be a part of a thorough and transparent strategic planning process for the future success of the school.
Once again, we thank you for your participation in these initial stages of the planning process and encourage you to participate in the survey, which we will be sending out by email next week.
