Evan Woska '21 Turns a Love of Music into Fundraising

Evan Woska ’21 is known around campus for his amazing musical abilities. But off campus, he has channeled a passion for music and a love of playing into an ability to raise over 2.5 million dollars for local charities.

Evan began working with the Docs of Rock in November of 2017, serving as their sound engineer for charity gigs. Eventually, he started playing the electric violin as part of the band. Evan had a vision for a bigger picture and partnered with Monmouth County charities to provide free entertainment and help raise money for worthy causes.

Over the last two years, he has played for the Boy Scouts of America, Oasis for Autism, Monmouth Daycare Center, Parker Family Clinic, Zelinski Foundation, Lunch Break, PALS (People with ALS) and Two River Theater.

“Working with local charities has been a very rewarding experience for me,” said Evan. “This is a perfect way for me to positively impact the community because playing the violin is something I enjoy. I was able to visit the Parker Family Clinic and appreciate how important it is to provide health care for the underserved.  I plan to continue to play with the Docs of Rock and help serve the community.”

His charity work has led to features in The Two River Times as well as the Monmouth Journal. In August, he was interviewed and videotaped for a live presentation at the Parker Family Clinic event.

Over this past summer, he received an “Iconic Influencers Award” from Lunch Break for the work he has done over the last several years.  Recently, he was honored with two awards in one weekend. The first was a special honor presented at the Zilinski event with a framed letter and coin from John C. Thomson III, Lieutenant General, US Army Commander.  He was at the Headquarters Allied Land Command in Izmir, Turkey on an assignment and sent the award back in time for the event.

Evan was also honored with an award from the Senate and General Assembly, authored by Senator O’Scanlon and Assemblywoman DiMaso and presented by Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno at the annual Parker Family Clinic Gala.

Ranney Panthers are always looking for ways to improve not only the school community, but striving to make the surrounding community a better place as well. Ranney is proud of students like Evan, who take on leadership roles to contribute to society in ways that are meaningful to them.
