MS Debate Team Earns Top Places in Knollwood Tournament
The Middle School Debate Team competed in the third tournament of the year this past Saturday at Knollwood School, Fair Haven and took home top awards:
First place awards in Total Wins (9) and Percentage of Wins (75%)
2nd place team: Lindsay Berliner '24 and Joseph Sciortino '24
3rd place team: Anthony Abboud '25, Kieran Collins '25, Cole Serrapica '25
Top Speaker Award for Ranney School: Joseph Sciortino '24
Golden Gavel Award (Highest Total Speaker Points Among All Schools); Lindsay Berliner '24
Other participating schools were Knollwood, Rumson Country Day, Barkalow, and Forrestdale.
The following topics were debated in the tournament:
Social media platforms should ban political advertising
Major League Baseball's plan to cut minor league teams is justified
Ban single-use plastic bags
All presidential primaries should be held on the same day
The final tournament of the year will be held on April 4th at Ranney.
