Distance Learning Policies and Partnership

To access details about our distance learning program across divisions and answers to frequently asked questions, please visit: Distance Learning at Ranney.

The move to distance learning is uncharted territory for all of us. While we do not know how long this will last, we do know that it will ultimately be temporary, and we are here to be sure that students are able to maintain continuity in their educational journey and personal growth in the coming weeks. We ask for your partnership in supporting your child(ren) through this transition to distance learning. It is critical that students actively engage and participate in the activities and lessons planned by faculty. And we ask you to let us know how it is going and to give us constructive feedback. Our adventure into distance learning will be successful only if we all work together.

Faculty will make every effort to record class sessions, which will allow students to access this content if classes are missed or for review purposes. As per the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, these online lessons are intended for instructional purposes only and will be made available at the teacher and/or Ranney School’s discretion. The school strongly recommends creating a work environment for your child(ren) that facilitates productivity and a reasonable degree of privacy.

During synchronous learning classes on Google Meet, students and teachers using webcams will be visible to everyone else participating in the call. Faculty and student expectations for the in-person class environment also apply to distance learning. All participants are expected to act in a school-appropriate manner, and all traditional school policies will apply. In the event of behavior deemed inappropriate, faculty may remove students from a lesson, and disciplinary action may be taken by division administration.

If you have any questions or concerns about these policies or the move to distance learning, please reach out to your child(ren)’s Division Head(s). If you have a general question or feedback, please feel free to reach out to communications@ranneyschool.org and we would be happy to help you get your question answered.

We’re looking forward to a successful transition to distance learning! Please stay safe.
