Ranney School Class of 2020 Boasts Impressive College Acceptances

The creative, passionate and multi-faceted students in Ranney School’s Class of 2020 are celebrating acceptances to 116 colleges/universities including Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, Yale and many other institutions that will undoubtedly help the Class of 2020 make its everlasting mark on the world.

The Ranney School community is exceptionally proud of these students and their achievements. Ranney’s College Counseling team partners with students and their families to individualize their journey through Upper School and support each student in finding the right fit for the next chapter in their academic careers. Whether our seniors choose to become a Georgetown Hoya, New York University Bobcat, Vanderbilt Commodore, or Wake Forest Demon Deacon, these exceptional students will always be remembered as Panthers first (and forever).

The ratio of Ranney seniors to personal, primary College Counselor is 1 to 16, and every student also has access to an entire office of counselors that know each student’s background and path. The College Counseling department has a great deal of experience both as counselors to high school students and as College admissions officers. The college process begins as early as the summer before 9th grade as students work with counselors to develop predictive schedules to plan their Upper School career. In 11th grade, students have one class dedicated to the college process; during that time, students write college essays, listen to speaker panels, and work through mock interviews with College Counselors. In addition, Ranney plans a college trip each year. Ranney College Counseling does not stop after the acceptances roll in. Seniors are led through a transitions class that helps to teach them important life skills that will ensure they are successfully prepared for the transition to college.

“We are very proud of this year’s senior class,” said Adam Materasso, Dean of Enrollment Management and College Counseling. “Their college acceptances confirm that their academic and extracurricular accomplishments are impressive. These students have made their mark at Ranney School and we look forward to celebrating them for the remainder of this school year.”
The final matriculation list for the Class of 2020 will be available in early May. The bolded names are those schools that accepted two or more applicants from Ranney School.
