Emily Zimmermann '21 Signs NLI to Join Villanova University’s Swimming & Diving Team

Emily Zimmermann ’21 (Spring Lake, NJ) signed a National Letter of Intent to swim at Villanova University.
Zimmermann, who has served as team captain of Ranney’s swim team over the last two years, holds Ranney School records in the 100 breast, 200 IM and is part of the record-holding 200 free relay.  She was named Ranney School’s 2020 Female Athlete of the Year.

She has seven YMCA National Qualifying times and has qualified for YMCA Nationals for the past three years. She was an “A” finalist in four events at Long Course Nationals 2019 (50, 100, and 200 breast, and the 200 IM) and picked up four new YMCA National times in the 50, 100, and 200 free and the 400 IM.

In January of 2020, Zimmermann competed at the Monmouth County Swim Championships in the 100 breast and the 200 IM. She finished 4th in the 100 breast and placed 2nd in the 200 IM. She anchored Ranney High School’s 200 free relay in 25.93, earning 10th place. She split a 31.12 on the breaststroke leg of the 200 medley relay, which finished 12th.

Zimmermann is joining a storied program. The Villanova women’s Swimming and Diving team clinched the BIG EAST Championship for the seventh straight year in March of 2020. Zimmermann’s top times would have made her an A-finalist in both the 100 and 200-breast at the BIG EAST Conference meet.

Zimmermann has been accepted into the Nursing Program, consistently named a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing.
