Ankur Govil '18 Develops Ventilator Alternative for COVID-19 Patients

Ankur Govil ’18 continues to use his passions to accomplish amazing things. Ankur is currently at Johns Hopkins University, where he is part of a student team that developed AirTight, a leak-proof mask designed to be used with common CPAP machines to stop viral particles from leaking and spreading. More information can be seen in this video.

Ankur, along with fellow students Varahunan Mathiyalakan, Min Jae Kim, Joshua Ni, Adam Kenet, and Noah Sobel collectively represent the departments of Biomedical Engineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, and Biophysics at Johns Hopkins.

They formed their team earlier this year when there was a national shortage of ventilators to treat COVID-19 patients. More information can be found in this article. The team designed more than 10 functional prototypes, along with unique testing protocols.

We continue to be proud of all of the Ranney alumni making important contributions!
