Lily Egol '22 Named 2021 Scholastic Awards National Medalist

Lily Egol '22 was named a 2021 Scholastic Awards National Medalist by The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the nonprofit organization that presents the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

Lily submitted short stories and poetry to this year's competition-- she was awarded one gold medal, four silver medals, and eight honorable mentions at the regional level, and her gold medal piece, titled "Broken Chord," was then automatically entered into Scholastic's national competition, and won a national award

More than 80,000 students submitted nearly 230,000 works of art and writing to the 2021 Scholastic Awards.

"Your work was selected by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts for excellence in originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Only 2,000 works received a National Medal, which means your work is within the top 1% of all submissions!" said Christopher Wisniewski, Executive Director of Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.

Since 1923, the Awards have celebrated teen artists and writers from across the country. The winning pieces will be published at artandwriting.org in June.
