Ranney School Sailing Captures Second at MASSA Girls' Championship
Ranney School captured second at the MASSA Girls' Championship at The Waterfront Center on May 8-9. Southern Regional High School placed first, and Norfolk Collegiate rounded out the top three.
On Saturday, sailors arrived at the WaterFront Center at 8:30, and competition was postponed due to light breeze until 10:15. The wind was extremely variable in West Harbor, clocking throughout the day and varying between 3-5 knots, but they were still able to get 10 good races off, with racing ending at 4:45.
At the end of the first day, Southern Regional High School held first place, with Ranney School in second and Stonybrook in third.
On Sunday, racing began at 10:00 am, with eight races throughout the day despite variable conditions. Breeze was between 5 and 10 knots, consistently oscillating between the Northwest and the Southwest throughout the day.
