Ranney Students Shine at All-Shore Orchestra Concert
Many Ranney Orchestra students performed on Friday, Feb. 3 with the All-Shore Orchestra at the Wall Intermediate School as part of the annual All Shore Orchestra Concert.
The program featured works by Grieg (Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op 46), Beethoven (Finale from Symphony No. 5), Balmages (Spartacus), and Gaspar Sanz (Canarios).
“It was a wonderful night of music, performed to almost full house, and featuring the hard work and talents of many Monmouth and Ocean Counties string students,” said Dr. Dorothy Sobieskie, All-School Orchestra Director. “The Ranney Orchestra program was well represented and their I beamed with pride watching our Ranney Performing Arts Panthers shine on stage.”
The blind auditions for placement in the All-Shore Orchestra took place at the Wall Intermediate School on Saturday, Dec. 3. The students performed scales, specific solos chosen by the All-Shore Orchestra Directors Association, and sight reading excerpts. They worked on the program through the month of January and last Friday's event was a culmination of their work.
