Celebrating Winter Sports Achievements

The Ranney School winter sports teams have been earning outstanding results this year, and the campus is brimming with Ranney Panther Pride! 

At the Indoor Track and Field at Non Public B Group Championships, Priscilla Michel ’24 won the 55m hurdles and the 55m dash at the Non Public B Group Championships, breaking both school records to move on to the Meet of Champions.

The girls 4x400 relay team of Zoe Keefe ’25, Priscilla Michel ’24, Heavin Pierce, ’24, and Rae Tarantino ’26 placed second at the Non Public B Group Championships, also qualifying for the Meet of Champions.

Rae Tarantino ’26 placed third in the 400m, also breaking (her own) school record and qualifying for the Meet of Champions.

The girls 4x200 team of Priscilla Michel '24, Savanna Stemmermann '26, Rae Tarantino '26, and Heavin Pierce '24 captured First Place in the Non Public B Relay Championship in January.

Daren Chen '25 won the 200 IM Shore Conference Championship. He is the all-time Shore Conference record holder and back-to-back Shore Conference Champion in this event. He will be competing at the Swimming Meet of Champions on March 4 and 5.

At the Fencing Prep State Championship, Ranney captured first place in the women’s foil team (Gwendolen Kokes ‘25, Isabella Paulus ‘25, and Rianna Khan ‘25). In the individual women’s foil, Ranney fencers earned gold (Gwendolen Kokes) and silver (Isabella Paulus). In women’s epee, Eren Kokes ‘23 captured second place.  At the NJSIAA Individual Championships, Isabella Paulus placed 6th overall in the Women’s Foil.

The Ranney/St. John Vianney Ice hockey co-op won the Shore Conference Championship. Varsity players include Dakota Vastola ‘24 and Blaise Lucosky ‘24. JV players include Jack Fallon ‘26, Max Menkowitz ‘26, Dylan Pagonis ‘26, Mingyu Zhang ‘26.

Both the Middle School boys and the Middle School girls’ basketball teams each won the championship in the Shore Athletic League.

The boys’ varsity basketball team advanced to the Non-Public B South Semifinal, as well as the Shore Conference Final as the No. 11 seed, playing in front of a 3,000-person crowd at Monmouth University OceanFirst Bank Arena.

Congratulations to Sarah Hughes ‘22 on being named the Ranney representative for National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

And, finally, congratulations to Varsity Girls’ Basketball who captured the Holmdel Holiday Tournament over Winter Break.
 
There are a lot of achievements to celebrate and the season is not done yet!
