Five Ranney Students Join CJMEA Elementary Honors Band

Mr. John Propper, All-School Band Director and Performing Arts Chair, announced that the following students were accepted into the Central Jersey Music Educators Association (CJMEA) Elementary Honors Bands:

Andrew Abboud '29-Tenor Saxophone (Blue Band)
Harley Landers '29-Trumpet (Blue Band)
Omar Zamel '30-Clarinet (White Band)
Griffin Alexander '31-Trumpet (Red Band)
Lea Wang '31-Flute (Red Band)

These students completed an in-school audition that consisted of a prepared piece, scales, and a sight-reading example.  They were recommended and accepted by CJMEA and will prepare and perform three band arrangements for the CJMEA Honors Band Festival at Hillsborough High School on Saturday, April 22nd.  Over 500 hundred students applied to be in the honors band, and four complete concert bands will be assembled and assigned the colors Blue, Red, White, and Silver.

“It's so wonderful that Andrew, Griffin, Harley, Lea, and Omar will have a chance to participate in this year's CJMEA Elementary Honors Band Festival to represent Ranney’s band program,” said Mr. Propper.  “I look forward to hearing them perform with the other selected honors band students from the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades throughout central New Jersey.”
