Lower School Students Sing in Honors Chorus Festival

On Saturday, May 13, eight members of the Ranney Lower School Chorus participated in the CJMEA (Central Jersey Music Educators Association) Honors Chorus Festival with Mrs. Geene at Ocean Township High School.

Students must be nominated for this opportunity to sing in a day long festival for Elementary and Intermediate students; they prepared the music prior to the festival on their own and in after school practice sessions.

Sophia Bakr, Eve Brustein, Aastha Chadha, Danica Gartenberg, Mariella Giordano, Emerson Kurdi, Maya Rathi, and Amaira Saxena spent the day singing, moving, rehearsing, and learning with other students and chorus directors from 25 schools throughout central New Jersey.

The Treble Chorus (grades 4-6) of 120 students performed Bhombela, The Dream Keeper, Shake the Papaya Down, and Uno Dos Y Tres in the afternoon concert for families. They combined with the Mixed Chorus (grades 6-8) to sing Grow a Little Tree and Why We Sing.

"This was a wonderful opportunity for our chorus students and we enjoyed spending the day together singing," said Mrs. Geene.
