Ranney Opens Second Innovation Lab

Bringing STEAM and Design Thinking to Life
Ranney School continues to build STEAM with the opening of a second Innovation Lab in 2016 in the Visual Arts Building for Middle and Upper School students. The first floor of the Visual Arts building was renovated to create an open, flexible space for worktables and stations (e.g., woodworking and potter). The second floor of the Visual Arts Building was also renovated to house technology including 3D printers and computers with CAD/design software.

Ranney has also continued to invest in the Lower School Innovation Lab, which includes a green screen for broadcast video and Littlebitz for coding as well as age-appropriate tools and equipment to further build out a space that encourages hands-on problem solving and introduces Ranney’s youngest learners to Design Thinking. Read about Ranney's first Innovation Lab in the Community Magazine story here.

Ranney’s Innovation Labs and investments in STEAM were made possible through the generous philanthropic support of current and past Ranney School parents Michael and Cathy Abboud, Karl and Barbara Brand, Christopher and Alison Fitzmaurice, Jason and Linda Welch, and Michael Oster and Cristina Chen-Oster along with many other donors to the Ranney Fund.
