History Bowl Team Qualifies for National Competition

Members of the Ranney History Bowl Team competed at the New Jersey State Championships held at Ridgewood High School on Jan. 13. This tournament was the second-largest regional tournament ever held by the National History Bowl.
 
The Varsity Team, consisting of Varun Sikand, Jacob Egol, Seth Marx, and Alex Senderov, went undefeated in the first seven rounds of the tournament, making it to the quarterfinal round of competition, and qualifying for the National Competition in April in Washington, D.C.
 
In addition to the team, individual members qualified for Nationals in the following areas:
 
INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
  • Varsity National History Bee: Varun Sikand, Jacob Egol (National qualifiers)
  • JV National History Bee: Alex Senderov (National qualifier)
  • Varsity International Geography Bee, and Varsity US Geography Olympiad: Jacob Egol and Alex Senderov (National qualifiers)
  • US History Bee: Jacob Egol (1st place) and Varun Sikand (2nd place)
  • JV US History Bee: Alex Senderov (5th place)
