Grace Nivera Honored by Duke TIP for Exceptional Scores

Ranney School seventh grader Grace Nivera is among the students being honored by the Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) for their exceptional scores on the ACT or SAT. She will be recognized at the Grand Recognition Ceremony on May 21, 2018 at Duke University’s Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Duke TIP’s 7th Grade Talent Search identifies students across the United States who scored at or above the 95th percentile on a grade-level standardized test. As part of the program, these academically talented students take above-level college-entrance exams to learn more about their abilities. Duke TIP then hosts annual recognition ceremonies to honor the seventh graders with remarkable ACT or SAT scores. Those with the highest scores are invited to the Grand Recognition Ceremony. Of  the 43,120 students who took the exams through Duke TIP—all of whom are in the 95th percentile of their grade level—only about 1,659 were invited to the Grand Recognition Ceremony. Grace Nivera’s accomplishments were exceptional as she attained Grand Honors in every section of the ACT (Math, Science, Reading, and English) as well as the two components of SAT I (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing as well as Math). Her scores put her at least in the TOP 3% of high school juniors and seniors who took the exam, across the nation. She will also be honored by CTY-Johns Hopkins with a Grand Honor Award this coming fall.
