Ranney Sailing Team Ranked 7th Nationally

There are over 600 high school sailing teams across the country and Ranney School was one of only 20 schools that qualified for the Mallory Doublehanded National Championship, held in Seabrook, Texas.

Teams came from all across the country including California, Washington, Florida, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Texas and the Virgin Islands to compete in the championship.

After two days of shifty and gusting winds, the Panthers fought hard against the best sailors in the county to finish in seventh place, an incredible accomplishment for a sailing program in only its third year.

The Panthers have now competed in back-to-back National Championships, which few New Jersey team has ever accomplished.

Ranney sailors Luke Arnone, Blake Epstein, Cameron Giblin, Matthew Hamelsky, Catherine Vucetic, William Beyer, George Sima, Brooke Schmelz and Hubert Wang all contributed to this impressive accomplishment. The Panthers are coached by Clay Johnson.

This weekend, the team hits the water at Shrewsbury Sailing and Yacht Club to defend its New Jersey State Champion title.
