Ranney AD Natalie Gorman Inducted into Red Bank Catholic High School Athletic Hall of Fame

Ranney School Athletic Director Natalie Gorman was inducted into the Red Bank Catholic High School 2018 Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 23 in the RBC Vincent J. Eck Student Center.

An Ocean Township native, Gorman is a 2003 graduate of Red Bank Catholic and was a first-team All-Shore and All-State selection, where she scored 53 goals and had 35 assists during her career for the Caseys. RBC won its first NJSIAA Parochial A championship during her senior year. The Caseys also captured four straight Divisional Titles while winning the Shore Conference Tournament Championship in her Freshman and Junior seasons.

Gorman has been at Ranney since 2017. Under her tutelage, several athletic milestones have been achieved. The boys’ basketball team earned the school’s first-ever Shore Conference Tournament championship trophy, while also claiming the school's first NJSIAA Non Public B South State Sectional Championship.  Senior Matt Chang won the first-ever Shore Conference Championship, with several student-athletes after him being honored as All-Conference and All-State. Senior Abby Boyan was the first female student-athlete to sign an NLI for a power-5 conference school while setting a school record with 102 goals scored, and the track team set numerous school records. The girls’ tennis team won the NJISAA Prep B State Championship, while also claiming the NJSIAA Non Public B South State Sectional Championship. The baseball team advanced to the Shore Conference Tournament for the first time in Ranney history, and the sailing team was ranked seventh nationally and won its second-straight State Championship title. Three teams (varsity girls’ tennis, varsity boys’ tennis and varsity boys’ basketball) went undefeated in B Central play, while two Middle School teams (boys’ basketball and boys’ tennis) went undefeated in their middle school league schedule.

Gorman served as a women’s soccer assistant coach at University of Louisville for eight seasons, helping to guide the Cardinals to not only their first NCAA Tournament berth, but multiple trips to the NCAAs. During a record-setting 2011 season, the Cardinals advanced to their first ever BIG EAST Tournament title game and ended the season ranked 24th overall in the final NSCAA coaches' poll. Prior to Louisville, she served as a soccer coach at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where she earned a master’s degree in Sports Leadership and Administration. She also spent time coaching top youth talent at the U.S. Soccer Federation’s National Training Center and working with players across multiple age groups at the USYSA Region II Olympic Development program.

Before moving into the coaching ranks, Gorman had a stellar playing career at West Virginia University, where she scored 15 goals, 5 assists and 35 points. She was captain of the 2007 BIG EAST Champion Mountaineer team that reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament and finished ranked No. 1 in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.

One of the most decorated players in WVU's history, Gorman was named BIG EAST Player of the Week six times, was voted Most Valuable Defensive player by teammates and coaches her senior season, and was voted hardest working player three times during the 2007 season. A four-year starter as a midfielder and defender, she was a key member of WVU's back-to-back BIG EAST regular season champions in 2006 and 2007 and the Mountaineers' 2007 BIG EAST Tournament title. The Mountaineers qualified for the NCAA Tournament each of her four years as a player, advancing to the NCAA Elite 8 in her senior season. Gorman graduated from WVU with a degree in health and physical education in 2008.

Natalie and her husband, Daniel, reside in Tinton Falls with their 2-year-old son, Louis.
