Sophia Salvador Co-Chairs Successful Tennis Classic Fundraiser

Sophia Salvador ’19 and her mother, Pam, partnered with 180 Turning Lives Around to coordinate the Tennis Classic fundraiser this past weekend.

The event featured a sold-out round-robin competition followed by lunch at the Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club. The day featured gift raffles, player prizes and more. The funds raised through this event, along with many other fundraising initiatives throughout the year, will help 180 address a number of immediate needs including the operations of the 45 bed Safe House, which is currently almost full and has served nearly 225 individuals in the last year, and more than 8,000 individuals since inception in 1976.

As school is starting this time of year especially, another major program to benefit from funds raised include 180's 2nd Floor Youth Text and Helpline. This program addresses the many challenges youth are facing such as dating and relationship issues, bullying, mental health struggles, suicide and abuse. Additionally, nearly 3,000 phone calls are fielded annually through a 24/7, anonymous, and confidential domestic and sexual violence hotlines.
