Panthers Win the OCC Invitational Regatta

The Ranney Sailing Team finished in first place at the annual OCC Invitational Regatta at Toms River Yacht Club on Saturday, September 23. Of the 18 teams competing, made up from 16 high schools, the Panthers figured out how to be the most consistent in inconsistent weather, which, while mild and sunny, proved to be challenging, given the shifting winds and variable velocity.

Ranney’s A-Division skipper Luke Arnone and his crews Blake Epstein and John Cocozza were perfect as they racked up eight first place finishes for the day, while B-Division skippers Cameron Giblin and Brooke Schmelz, with their crews Will Beyer and Matthew Hamelsky, respectively, had all but one top-5 finish for the day. Ranney will hit the water next Saturday and Sunday in the Fall Fleet and Team Racing qualifiers.
