Academic Challenge Team Places 13th at Henderson Invite

The Academic Challenge Team had an amazing showing at the Henderson Invitational in West Chester, PA on Saturday, Nov. 17. Against some of the toughest competition from New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania, Ranney forged an 8-2 record, finishing 13th of the 36 teams in the tourney.
Ranney started two freshmen at the competition; Lily Egol and Elizabeth Wright both scored the first points in their budding careers, with Lily racking up her first Power Points as well. Junior Seth Marx had a wonderful day, scoring many points on subjects as diverse as literature, sports, and Seinfeld!

Finally, senior Jacob Egol had the best day of his career, averaging more than 96 points per game on toss-up questions. Jacob finished No. 2 in the entire tournament of 146 students.

“During my twelve years as advisor (and I believe in the history of Ranney competing at Quiz Bowls), Jacob outperformed every Ranney student except for one,” said Academic Challenge Team advisor Mr. Douglas Felter.
