Scottie Lewis '19 and Bryan Antoine '19 Featured in SLAM Magazine

Ranney School seniors Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis have been featured in the January/February 2019 issue of SLAM Magazine. The publication, which primarily focuses on the NBA, spent two days with the two members of the Ranney School boys’ basketball team, producing an article in the hard copy issue, as well as two videos that were posted online.

The videos can be seen here and here.

Antoine, who has committed to play at Villanova next year, averaged 21.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.5 steals and 0.8 blocks per game last season. Throughout his career at Ranney, he’s averaged over 20.7 ppg, and is currently 10th on the Jersey Shore All-Time Scoring List with 1,880.

After the first two games of the season, NJ.com selected Antoine as Player of the Week after he started the season off with 36 points, six boards and five steals in an 84-72 win over West Nottingham (Md.) He added 33 more points and seven steals in a 63-51 win over Don Bosco Prep on Sunday.

Lewis, who has committed to play at the University of Florida next year, has also surpassed 1,000 career points at Ranney but is known for filling up the stat sheet beyond just the points column, averaging 16.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.9 blocks last season.

“I think we’ve been a lot more driven than motivated,” Lewis was quoted as saying in the article. “I saw a quote one time that said, ‘Never be motivated but always be driven.’ Because an artist is always motivated—it could take them one year [to] do a painting, but that motivation only lasts however so long, and when you’re driven that’s skin-deep, that’s in your heart and mind, and so that’s something that lasts forever. I think we’ve been more driven than anything to be able to express and use our platform and voice to affect people near us and far.”
