How did you get involved with the Climate Change Conference?During the past season, I was involved in a program which aimed to solve the problem that traditional methods of educating teenagers about carbon reduction were not effective. To tackle this challenge, we aimed to promote carbon-neutral knowledge and activities among teenagers by using an innovative project. Our project, "Promotion of Green Concepts and Actions with a Metaverse Game themed on Campus Architecture and Life," utilizes the power of metaverse games to teach low-carbon concepts and activities in teenagers. Our efforts caught the attention of an organization that supports young people in participating in sustainable development actions. As a core member of our team, I was invited to attend the 28th UN Climate Change Conference held in Dubai as an observer.
What was your involvement during the conference?
During the conference, I delivered a speech during one of the press release sessions to emphasize the urgency of addressing carbon emissions for sustainable development and emphasized teenagers’ involvement, highlighting the importance of teenagers' participation. It is crucial for us to focus on how to reduce our carbon footprint in daily campus activities. Additionally, I shared our experience to inspire teenagers worldwide to participate in low-carbon actions through technology and design innovative educational methods.
The most interesting aspect was the realization that youth are actively participating in low-carbon and sustainable activities. The exchange of ideas and experiences among like-minded peers was inspiring. At this conference, I also met officials and entrepreneurs from all over the world who are concerned about the environment and sustainable development. Listening to their presentation lead me to think bigger.
Did participating in the conference change your perspective on anything?
Yes, participating in the conference reaffirmed my belief in the significant contribution that technology can make towards sustainable development, as well as its role in educating and motivating youth to adopt low-carbon lifestyles.
Are you planning to continue your involvement with climate change?
Absolutely, I am committed to continuing my involvement in climate change initiatives, particularly through daily activities, technology-driven projects, and educational outreach.
How would you summarize the experience of attending this global conference?
Participating in COP28 in Dubai was an invaluable experience that had a profound impact on me—connecting with individuals who share a profound dedication to addressing climate change and witnessing the global commitment to sustainability not only reinforced my commitment but also ignited a deeper passion for contributing to a more sustainable future. It emphasized the significance of young people in shaping the future, and how every seemingly small action we take plays a crucial role in the broader movement towards reducing carbon emissions and advancing environmental sustainability.
This experience inspired me to embrace innovation, creativity, and exploration to discover novel ways to diminish our carbon footprint. By collectively harnessing our efforts, we can collaboratively construct a world that is more sustainable, just, and equitable.
