Ranney Upper School Speech and Debate

Ranney's Upper School Speech and Debate teams have competed in four tournaments thus far, starting the season off in November at the Randolph Classic, in December at Summit Hilltop Classic, and now in January with both the Hunterdon Invitational and just this past weekend with the juggernaut Ridge Invitational tournament.

Ranney Debate has had much success in the Parliamentary Debate category, a kind of impromptu debate where students do not know their topic until they enter the room! At Hunterdon the "Parli" team of Lindsay Berliner '24 and Uliyana Boyko '25, and at Ridge the team of Max Kelner '25 and Lucas Yanney '25 made it "to the podium" in fifth place. 

Additionally in the Ridge specialty Speech category of Radio Speaking Lindsey Berliner '24 and Leo Schaffer '24 made a repeat showing as Finalists with Schaffer earning fifth place and Berliner earning second place.

The Speech and Debate teams will be competing in one more regular season tournament at Freehold Township this weekend (February 3) with States and Districts on the horizon in March.
