The Ranney School Difference

Thank you for your interest in Ranney School, an Age 3-Grade 12 independent, co-ed, secular college preparatory school based in Tinton Falls, NJ. Our school serves a diverse body of students from across Monmouth & Ocean Counties.

At Ranney, we know and value every student to offer a balance of challenge and support so that every child can reach their fullest personal potential at every stage of their educational journey.  Ranney's innovative curriculum fosters creative thinking, our nurturing community supports student success, and we offer a robust student life program that encourages students to pursue not just one, but many interests while at Ranney School.

Ranney's rigorous course of study is forward-thinking, flexible, and relevant.  As an accredited independent school, Ranney is not governed by specific state laws or testing requirements that determine what or how we must teach.  Ranney is free to design curricula and co-curricular activities that are mission-based and responsive to the needs of our students and society as a whole. Ranney maintains a commitment to excellence in traditional subjects, while continually seeking out ways to ensure our curriculum is at the cutting edge. We also strive to ensure our students have oppportunities to apply their learning across disciplines.

Meaningful relationships are the hallmark of the Ranney experience. In every division, small classes and faculty teams offer a balance of appropriate challenge and support, guided by the needs of each individual student. Faculty develop mentoring relationships with students that often go beyond curriculum. Students and parents receive regular feedback from faculty through detailed report cards, bi-annual teacher/advisory conferences, and informal meetings and outreach. Student peers celebrate each other’s unique gifts and offer encouragement. As a result, students are able to be themselves and take risks.
We see the value of a Ranney education reflected in the accomplishments of our alumni. Ranney graduates attend the nation’s most selective colleges and universities and go on to become physicians, attorneys, entrepreneurs, professors, authors, designers, engineers and professional musicians. Our graduates are leaders in a modern, global society.
I invite you to learn more about Ranney through a visit to our campus. I look forward to welcoming you and your family to Ranney School.

Our School's Foundation

Ranney School was established in 1960 to foster the individual aptitudes of students, to provide a warm and nurturing learning community, and to instill a life-long love of learning. Over the past five decades, the school’s core values of knowledge, vision and honor have built the foundation of our school and created a legacy of distinction that we take pride in upholding. We also recognize that in order to maintain our tradition of achievement, our school must be innovative and adaptable to prepare our students for an evolving, global world. As an independent school, we have the opportunity to provide a flexible, responsive, non-traditional learning environment in which we can cherish and grow our students’ unique talents and interests, cultivate lifelong relationships, advance healthy competition, and inspire a balance of mind, body and character—all of which guide our students to reach their fullest personal potential. Therefore, our teachers and students are not only held to the highest standards, but they are also encouraged to be forward-thinkers and to seek out innovative ways of imparting and understanding knowledge so that our graduates can enter the world as confident, passionate, empathetic, versatile young adults.
OUR VISION: We envision Ranney School as a nurturing learning community, in which families, faculty, alumni and all of Ranney’s constituents collaborate to distinguish and value every child, foster individual talents, sustain powerful connections between children and adults, and graduate resilient, globally-minded citizens.
OUR MISSION: To nurture intellectual curiosity and confidence to inspire students to lead honorably, think creatively and contribute meaningfully to society.
OUR DIVERSITY STATEMENT: We continue to foster an inclusive community that supports a spectrum of cultures, beliefs and talents to promote the intellectual growth and moral development of all members of our community. We are inspired by an awareness and appreciation for diversity, human dignity and interpersonal acceptance.
