Early college acceptances are rolling in for Ranney’s Class of 2017. While early acceptances will continue through January, some of the colleges and universities accepting our students as of January 5 include: Boston College, Case Western Reserve, Colby College, Columbia, Cornell, Drexel, Duke, Elon, Emerson, Emory, Fairfield, Fordham, Georgetown, George Washington, Goucher, High Point, Lehigh, McGill, the University of Michigan, NYU, Northeastern, Notre Dame, Penn State, Providence, Rutgers, Sarah Lawrence, Stevens Institute of Technology, Southern Methodist, Syracuse, Texas Christian, University of Toronto, Tulane, Ursinus, Vanderbilt, and Wellesley College.

The Class of 2017 includes 82 seniors, 7 of whom have been commended by the National Merit Scholarship Program and 26 who earned Advanced Placement Scholar Awards. Our scholar-athletes to date include Alexis Redish who has signed with Clark University’s Division III Softball team.

“The Ranney School Class of 2017 has demonstrated impressive scholarship, athletic talent, artistic talent, and strong character,” says Ranney Co-Director of College Counseling Dr. Nick Accrocco. “In College Counseling, we have been very impressed by their contributions both in and outside of the classroom. What's also exciting is that this senior class has not only been offered admission at many fine institutions in the northeast, but also outside of our home region. We are very proud of their accomplishments, and we are grateful for our wonderful teachers, coaches, and mentors at Ranney for helping develop them into the students they have become.”

Ranney School’s comprehensive College Counseling Program, led by Dr. Accrocco and Ms. Andrea Velasquez, begins at the end of students’ freshmen year. Throughout their Upper School years, students work with their counselors to follow an appropriate academic course, with clear and achievable goals. Counselors advise students and families on extracurricular activity options, summer plans, and standardized test preparation, while also providing chaperoned trips to half a dozen college campuses each year. The office also offers a series of parent workshops on topics such as paying for college, a semester-long college seminar for juniors and seniors, an annual Mock Admissions Evening, an alumni panel on collegiate student life, and an annual on-campus college fair with representation from more than 80 admissions representatives.

Last year’s class of 2016 garnered an exceptional list of college acceptances as well, including to six of the eight Ivy League institutions.
