Convocation and NHS Inductions Mark End of the 2016-17 Academic Year

Members of the senior class where honored with departmental and specialized awards at the 2017 Convocation Ceremony on May 22. They, along with several of their younger peers in the Class of 2018, were also inducted into the National Honor Society and recognized as AP Scholars. View the full photo gallery.

Upper School Head Katie Gibson, National Honor Society Advisor Kate Greenberg, and student officers of NHS led the ceremony in Panther Hall. Department chairs and faculty members shared unique characteristics and achievements about each student receiving a Convocation award.

“The academic achievements recognized today are the result of forethought and goal-setting,” said Head of School Dr. John W. Griffith, as he thanked the students’ family and faculty members, along with the entire Upper School, for supporting the recipients and their hard work. “We look forward to their commencement and successes beyond Ranney, as well as to the future goals and success of our underclassmen.”

Students further marked the end of the school year with the traditional Ranney Senior Walk across campus (video and photos) and Senior Dinner with their advisors. Despite the rain, members of the Class of 2017 took a final stroll from the Lower School, where many of them began their educational journey, to the Upper School, through cheering lines of students, teachers, and family members. The 82-member class will graduate on May 25 at the Collins Arena in Lincroft. View their college selections and more.
