Shana Fitzmaurice Qualifies for Meet of Champions in Two Events

The indoor track team competed in the NJSIAA Group Championships, racing against other Non-public B teams to qualify for a spot at the state championship meet next weekend, Meet of Champions. In order to qualify, athletes needed to finish top 6 in the event. 

Junior Shana Fitzmaurice ran the 1600m event in a time of 5:20, placing 2nd overall, thus qualifying for the Meet of Champions next week in the 1600m. She then came back and raced the 800m in a time of 2:30, breaking the school record, and finishing 6th overall, securing her a spot in the 800m race at the Meet of Champions. 

Junior Olykayode Oladeji just missed qualifying in the 800m race, running a time of 2:11, finishing 7th overall. His time was one second off of the school record he set last week. 

Sophomore Sam Novotny ended his season on a high note, running the 1600m race in a time of 5:49, setting a new personal best. 

Sophomore Summer Abdelbarry also ended her season on a high note, running the 55m dash in a time of 8.33s, for a new personal best time in the event.
