Model UN Students Attend the UN 80 Gala

Two Model UN Students attended the UN 80 Gala in Washington, D.C. along with Dr. Noel Delgado on Saturday, October 25. O'Hara Kane-Assatly ’26 and Jason Meng ’26 attended the gala, hosted by the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area chapter (UNA NCA).

Guest speakers at the event included Jim Sciutto, who spoke about his experience in war zones. Mary Maker, Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, spoke about her time being raised in a South Sudan refugee camp. Additionally, Daphna Zima spoke about the efforts to assist child trafficking victims worldwide.

"It was absolutely amazing," said Meng. "Not only was it a beautiful event and venue, but the speakers and diversity of people there was out of this world. We met with people from across the world, listening to their stories and learning so much. The speakers that spoke were professional, heartfelt, and gave perspectives on history that we would've never heard if we hadn't come. It was a once-in-a-lifetime event to remember!"
