Varsity Basketball Makes Conference Semifinals; Antoine Hits 1,000 Career Points!

Presidents’ Day Weekend was full of Ranney Athletic milestones. Our Varsity Boys’ Basketball team defeated St. Rose on Thursday, February 16, to advance to the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals, where they defeated Middletown North 79-63 on Sunday, February 19. The Panthers will now face Marlboro at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, at the Toms River Pine Belt Arena in the Shore Conference Semifinals.

The team qualified for the Shore Conference Tournament for the first time in school history in 2016 (they fell to Mater Dei in the quarterfinals), and this year now marks the first time ever that Ranney has qualified for the Short Conference Tournament semifinals.

In addition to this achievement, sophomore Bryan Antoine of Tinton Falls scored 33 points in the win over Middletown North on Sunday, thereby surpassing the 1,000 point mark in his Ranney basketball career. Bryan is the first sophomore in Shore Conference history to reach 1,000 points, according to N.J. basketball historian Chuck Langerman (see the full story on Shore Sports Network). He is the 11th player in Ranney history to hit this milestone, which most recently included Joe Murphy of the Class of 2014. View photos of Bryan receiving an honorary basketball for his achievement (March 1).

Tickets for tonight’s games will be $6 at the door. Go Panthers!
