Rinaldo, Effenberger Compete in Shore Conference Golf Tournament
Two Varsity Golf Team members have qualified for the 2017 Shore Conference Tournament: freshman Ryan Rinaldo and sophomore Anna Effenberger, both of Colts Neck. Ryan finished in the top 33% of the field while Anna shot an 89 over 18 holes at the recent Monmouth County Golf Tournament, held at Eatontown’s Sun Eagles. They will compete in the conference tournament early next week, with the girls playing at Neptune’s Jumping Brook course on April 24 and the boys at Lakewood’s Eagle Ridge course on April 25.
Update April 25: Anna shot a 96 with a 49 on the front 9 and a 47 on the back at the Shore Conference Tournament, ultimately finishing 12 out of 47 championship golfers! She worked hard to compete on a field consisting of the best of the best of Monmouth and Ocean counties, finishing 16 strokes behind the leader and 10 strokes off of placing in the top 5. “The team is proud of Anna's accomplishments over the past two years, growing from a beginning, freshman golfer into a team leader in such little time,” says the coach. “This is a testament to her dedication to the sport and her growth as an individual.
Update April 26: Ryan braved the tough conditions April 25 at the Shore Conference Boys' Golf Tournament to shoot an 84, earning himself 21st place out of 86 competitors across Monmouth and Ocean Counties. "Ryan currently leads the Ranney boys' golf team in scoring average, and is having a terrific freshman-year season," says Coach Michael Butler.
