Yasmeen Khan, '26, earned an Honorable Mention for her submission to the Scholastic Writing Awards Critical Essay category. She wrote a well-researched piece titled "Genetic Ancestry Testing And Its Prodigious Effect On Society".
Toward the latter part of the first semester, students in English 9 completed researched and cited essays. After a series of outlines and drafts, students then submitted their papers to a variety of external writing contests. The Scholastic Awards are among the most prestigious of the contests. Entering this contest also meant Yasmeen had to complete her final draft almost two weeks earlier than her classmates.
