Student Club Hosts Presentation on Anxiety and Coping Mechanisms

Upper School Student Service Club, Beneath the Surface sponsored a discussion on Feb. 7 with guest speaker Dr. Claudia R. Emmanuel-Freno from Neurabilities, a local organization that provides neurological, behavioral and neurodevelopmental services. 
 
Dr. Emmanuel-Freno's presentation included a discussion tailored to adolescents about identifying symptoms of stress and anxiety as well as various coping mechanisms that can be used to help manage these feelings. More than 40 students in attendance were able to discuss related topics and questions with a Q&A at the conclusion of the presentation.
 
Dr. Emmanuel-Freno. has a doctorate in school and clinical psychology and has worked at schools, colleges, residential centers, outpatient clinics, and hospitals, dealing with clients of all ages and providing therapeutic interventions, assessment evaluations, and consultation services. She is now completing a neuropsychology post-doctoral fellowship at Neurabilities Healthcare.
