Ranney Delegation Participates in Harvard Model Congress

Congratulations to this year's Ranney School delegation to Harvard Model Congress. In four days, 20 students authored over 30 bills, cosponsored an additional 15+, and added countless amendments to other legislation. These students fought to get their bills passed out of committee, then took up the challenge of arguing their ideas in front of the full House or Senate, facing those 100+ students with ease each time.

Two delegates successfully argued at the mock Supreme Court, achieving a record 4-1 wins. Other delegates addressed climate change and terrorism through the UN Security Council, tackled predatory lending practices, and recommended signing or vetoing legislation as members of the presidential cabinet. “All told, it was a very successful conference,” said advisor Mr. Mark DiGiovanni. “I congratulate all of the delegates for their great effort.”

As a result of their efforts, the following students were awarded with honors at the closing ceremonies:

Best Delegate (Awarded to the top two delegates in each committee)
Jared Gizersky (Senate Judiciary)

Honorable Mentions (Awarded to top 3rd-5th delegates in each committee)
Joseph Sciortino (Senate Judiciary)
O'Hara Kane-Assatly (Senate Armed Services)
Cole Serrapica (Senate Agriculture)
Maeve Weiss (Supreme Court)
Karan Patnaik (Supreme Court)
