Dr. Spencer Honored for Excellence in Teaching

Dr. Roxanne Spencer, Ranney School Science Department Chair, has been selected by the 2023 MARM Awards Committee as the winner of the 2023 ACS Division of Chemical Education Regional Award For Excellence in High School Teaching.

“While all the candidates are impressive, your portfolio is excellent, your accomplishments are prestigious, and you are well deserving of this award,” said C. Eric Cotton, 2023 Award Committee Chair.
Dr. Spencer is invited to the MARM 2023 Awards Dinner and Presentation at the CUNY Graduate Center. The award itself will be presented at the Awards Reception and Dinner in the Skylight Lounge on Friday, June 9th.

“Dr. Spencer is an incredibly talented, knowledgeable, and experienced educator and professional,’ said Dr. Greg Martin, Head of Upper School and Assistant Head of School. “This award came as no surprise to any of us who have had the honor to work with her. She goes the distance for her students in the classroom and out, and she is a tireless advocate for science and STEAM education that prepares our students for advanced study at the collegiate level and for lives of great meaning.”

“Not many people know that, in addition to her many years of teaching experience, Dr. Spencer also has significant experience in industry, having worked on the patent side of the chemical/medical research industry,” said Martin. “In the end, though, Dr. Spencer is all about her students and committed to their learning. Congratulations, Dr. Spencer!”
