Ranney Student Earns First-Ever National FBLA Trophy at 2025 Leadership Conference

Ranney School junior Jack Szeremeta ’26 placed 9th in the Personal Finance event at the 2025 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference, held June 29–July 2 in Anaheim, California. Competing among 70 students in his category, Jack proudly brings home Ranney’s first-ever national FBLA trophy. In addition to his competitive success, Jack also served as a lead intern during the conference—a selective role he earned through a rigorous written application and interview process.

Jack was one of three Ranney students to qualify for this year’s national conference. His brother, Alex Szeremeta ’26, advanced to the finals in the Management Information Systems event after winning first place at the state level—another exciting milestone for Ranney’s growing FBLA chapter.

Avi Rao ’27, the first Ranney student ever to qualify for FBLA Nationals, returned for his second consecutive year and competed in the Introduction to Public Speaking event, continuing to set a high standard of excellence for the school.

The FBLA National Leadership Conference is the organization’s flagship event, drawing more than 15,000 students, educators, and professionals from across the country. Students qualify for Nationals by placing in the top four at state-level competitions. This year’s conference featured more than 100 competitive events, opportunities to network with leading employers, and a keynote address from Karissa Bodnar, founder of Thrive Causemetics, who inspired students to lead with purpose and innovation.

Congratulations to Jack, Alex, and Avi on their outstanding accomplishments and for representing Ranney School with distinction on the national stage.
