On Thursday, September 4th, Ranney Lower School students will get their first glimpse inside the brand new Lower School Academic Complex and Panther Hall as they start their first day of the new school year. Ranney students in grades one through five will make their home in the new facility, with its "learning neighborhoods” or clusters of classrooms by grade, all surrounding a common space. The design helps students feel like they are part of a community and enhances the learning environment. The Lower School also features the latest in educational technology: laptops, distance learning capabilities, and SMARTboards in every classroom to encourage students to explore and collaborate using resources from around the world. Panther Hall, a lofty 5,000 square foot multi-purpose space, is one of the most significant features of the new Lower School. Here, students and members of the Ranney community will gather for theater and musical performances, art shows, assemblies, lectures, conferences, and other events that enrich learning and student life.
Students who are new to Ranney School, and those students transitioning to the various Divisions received a special preview of the facility on Friday, August 29th, during Orientation Day. The bright, spacious design was met with plenty of “oohs” and “ahhs”. Teachers and administrators are quite excited to see the excitement on student faces when classes begin Thursday at 8:20 a.m.
