Fifteen Seniors Named AP Scholars
Ranney Scholars Rank Among Only 18 Percent of Students Worldwide.
Fifteen members of Ranney School’s Class of 2009 have been named Advance Placement National Scholars by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement (AP) examinations taken this past May. Only about 18 percent of the more than 1.6 million students worldwide performed at a sufficiently high level to merit such recognition.
The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on student performance on the AP exams. Five Ranney seniors qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award for earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and grades of three or higher on five or more of these exams. These students are: Katherine Adams, Christina Henricks, Gregory Stormes, Daniel Turtel, and Jonathan Yu.
Three Ranney seniors qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award for receiving an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and grades of three or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are: Aaron Absatz, Gregory Florek, and Hannah Goldstein.
Another seven Ranney students qualified for the AP Scholar Award for completing three or more AP examinations with grades of three or higher. These students are: Jill Giunco, Ankit Goel, Kelly Harmon, Steve Jow, Elizabeth Natoli, Scott Silberstein, and Lauren Hoffman.
The AP Program offers students the opportunity to take challenging college-level courses while still in high school, and to receive college credit, advanced placement or both for their successful performance on the AP exams. At Ranney, students may select from 19 different Advance Placement offerings.
