Food Drive Helps Fill Community Need

In keeping with the season’s spirit of giving and in response to a large community need, Ranney students, families, faculty and staff joined together to collect canned goods and other food and household items to benefit Lunch Break in Red Bank.
In keeping with the season’s spirit of giving and in response to a large community need, Ranney students, families, faculty and staff joined together to collect canned goods and other food and household items to benefit Lunch Break in Red Bank. This very worthy organization serves many families and individuals not only at the holidays, but throughout the year. But during this year in particular, organizations such as Lunch Break are in even greater need of food donations.

Lower School students collected an incredible 779 pounds of food to help families in our local community, and in one of its most successful food drives to date, Middle Schoolers collected nearly 30 overflowing boxes and/or bins and several bags of canned food and paper goods. Middle School students were also given the opportunity to purchase a Dress Down Day, and the funds raised were used to buy 24 turkeys. In the Upper School, students gathered a phenomenal 1,005 units of canned food and toiletries for Lunch Break, with Mrs. Fernandez’s class finishing on top with 180 donations. Faculty and staff even got into the act, contributing 15 large bins of food during their annual Thanksgiving celebration. With the volunteered help of teachers and staff, the collected food was delivered to Lunch Break just in time for distribution to families for the Thanksgiving holiday.
