On Saturday, January 31, the Ranney Fencing team competed in the NJSIAA District Two Fencing Championship for the first time, resulting in strong individual showings. Considering Ranney’s size and that the team was up against some of the most high-powered fencing programs in the state in District Two, it was an outstanding accomplishment – especially for Ranney’s first time out. The Star-Ledger called District Two the "the toughest field of any weapon in the state.”

Senior Stephen Jow took 2nd place in men's foil, in an exciting final bout. Steven lost in a fence-off for first place. Freshman Patrick Glodkowski took 3rd place in men's saber, in another exciting fence-off. Both will now move to the state championships to be held on March 14 at Rider, Lawrenceville.

In addition, freshman Sam Tkach took 6th place in individual men's epee, and senior Marielle Cartagena, team captain, took 7th place in individual women's epee.
