Ranney Fencing Prevails at Princeton Day

The Ranney Fencing team prevailed Sunday, February 22 at the Princeton Day School Frosh/Sophomore Fencing Tournament.
The Ranney Fencing team prevailed Sunday, February 22 at the Princeton Day School Frosh/Sophomore Fencing Tournament. The challenging day included two rounds of pools, then a direct elimination for the top eight finishers in each weapon. Ranney was represented by six fencers in the individual finals.

Thomas Hearne and Sam Tkach, freshman foil and epee, won both rounds of their pools. Sam entered the epee direct eliminations seeded first overall after the pools, and Thomas was seeded second in the foil direct eliminations after his two pools. Thomas Florek also joined Sam as in the epee direct eliminations. Freshman and newcomer to the sport, Christa Dalmazio, made the direct eliminations in girls foil and Stephanie Moser, sophomore, entered the girls epee finals seeded second. In addition, freshman Patrick Glodkowski entered the saber direct eliminations as expected.

At the end of the day, Sam Tkach completed the direct elimination bouts with a first place finish in epee, Stephanie Moser with a second place in girls epee, and Thomas Hearne a second place in boys foil. Patrick Glodkowski finished 4th place in saber. Christa Dalmazio finished in 8th in girls foil and Thomas Florek finished 8th in boys epee.
