Welcome New Students and Parents

The new school year is approaching rapidly. To help all our new parents and students as well as sixth and ninth grade parents and students prepare for the 2009-2010 year, we cordially invite you to attend our upcoming Parent and Student Orientations.
On Thursday, 8/27, new parents attended an orientation to help them prepare for the 2009-10 academic year. In addition, sixth and ninth grade parents were invited to provide a smooth transition to the Middle and Upper Schools, respectively. The evening began with a social hour in the art galleries outside of Panther Hall where new parents had the opportunity to socialize with faculty, administration and fellow parents new to the community. Representatives from the Health, Transportation and Web Communications as well as members of the Ranney School Parents’ Association were on hand to greet new parents and answer questions. A light fare including a seafood bar, variety of cheeses and breads, pink lemonade, coffee and pastries was served.

Heather Rudisi, Associate Head for Admissions and Marketing welcomed the parents, followed by Dr. Lawrence S. Sykoff, Head of School, who spoke about the school’s upcoming 50th Anniversary, the benefits of a Ranney education and the quality of the learning environment at Ranney. In particular, he focused on the importance of putting gifted and committed teachers together with students in small and inclusive settings and preparing our students to thrive in the 21st century. Before breaking into Division groups, the parents were treated to a short video that highlighted teaching at Ranney School with faculty interviews, classroom footage and student testimonials.
