Congratulations are in order for the Varsity Girls’ Tennis team as they advance to the next round in the Monmouth County Tennis Championships.
Diane Scavelli reached the semifinals of the Monmouth County Championships at 2nd Singles with a thrilling quarterfinal victory over the 4th seed from Freehold Township.
Melissa Cantave and Natalie Cantave reached the semifinals at 1st Doubles with a well played quarterfinal victory over Rumson-Fair Haven.
Laura Church came within a couple of points of also reaching the semifinals at 3rd singles, but lost a close 3rd set tiebreaker to Shore Regional.
Grace Farren and Mariel Pearl reached the quarterfinals at 2nd Doubles where they lost to Rumson Fair Haven.
Charlotte Fleming had the pleasure of playing the 16th ranked player in New Jersey at 1st Singles, but lost to the standout from Manalapan.
Elizabeth Betesh and Rupa Patel won a very exciting match over Wall at 3rd Doubles, before losing to Marlboro.
In their semi-final matches Diane Scavelli and Melissa Cantave and Natalie Cantave both lost to Red Bank Catholic in the semifinals played late Sunday afternoon at Tindall Park in Middletown.
Congratulations to the entire Varsity Girls’ Tennis team for their strong showing in the county tournament. The girls’ performance shows that Ranney tennis is alive in Monmouth County and the entire shore area!
